ROCK
Similarities and differences of the rock magazine front covers
In my research of rock magazine, I decided to compare 2 different rock magazines, which were ‘Kerrang’ and ‘Classic Rock’ In my opinion I felt that these two magazines best portrayed the identity of the genre rock.
Firstly I am going to talk about the similarities. I noticed that in both magazines, the colour scheme that were used were ‘Red, White, and Black’ I feel that they use the colours Red because red represents strength, power, danger and courage. These are some key qualities of the rock genre. I also believe that they used the colour white because it may represent a successful beginning; most rock stars are very successful in the music industry. Lastly I suspect that they used the colour black because it represents power strength and authority. In both magazines, the main images show power; in ‘classical Rock’ it shows this by the way ‘Keith Richards’s standing and in ‘Kerrang’ it shows this with Biffy Clyro’s facial expression.
DIFFERENTLY, in the ‘Classical Rock’ magazine there is only one image which is of a famous rock star called ‘Keith Richards’ on the other hand in ‘Kerrang’ magazine it has one main image of a rock band called ‘Biffy Clyro’ and 3 mini sub images. I believe that it has these sub images so that if its readers aren’t familiar with Biffy Clyro they may be able to relate to the other artists from the mini images
